How to Deal with ODL?
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most
Merciful
Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!!!
I’m excited to be back
after such yeah I don’t remember when my last post. *sorry for not being
consistent. I hope you’re good today and you’ll be good if you haven’t feel
good today, amin. Oh yeah, don’t forget to wear mask, wash your hand often and
practices the SOP whenever you go to the public place. Take care of your health
and let’s pray that this pandemic will end soon.
Because of this pandemic happen, my university had decided
to make online learning distance (ODL) if I was not mistaken during Ramadan
month, I just don’t remember. At first knowing this, I was super heartbroken
cause ALL of my books were in college. I don’t bring any of them except for
Week Without Wall purpose. This semester I had Arabic class and I left that
book at college and that was the only source that my lecturer used. So whenever
there was feedback that need to fill, I’ll said about this cause I’m super disturbed
by this issue but thanked to my friends for understanding my situations *sobsob.
I also put some effort to copy some part in the textbook by handwritten cause I
was thinking at that time, maybe Allah want to give me more pahala *I don’t remember
pahala in English, so I need to give my effort too. Besides I was thinking on
how the previous ilmuan or cendikiawan, actually I was remembering one of the
imam but I’m not sure his name, on how he was struggling in seeking the
knowledge compare to how lazy I am cause the knowledge has already in front of
me. Yeah and that’s the reasons.
ODL really challenging cause it like you’re in wars with
yourself. Everyday my classes started at 0830 and yeahhhh it such challenging
such your lecturers wouldn’t check your homework, you could just join the
online class but maybe your physical wasn’t there, you could sleep in your bed
while listening to your lecturer and etc. I have done one of those and that
bad, really bad. If you having one of those problems or similar with it, here
some tips that might help you!
Ready? Let’s see.
Before class;
1. Intention
Before you going to sleep or wake up, make
an intention before you start your day. You can just say this to yourself like;
today I’m going to focus during class or today I want to be an active person.
This like you’re setting the goal for that day and without you realising, your
action will do towards achieving that goal, which is your intention.
2. Sleep early or asked your relatives to wake you up
I’m not a person that sleep early cause
there was a lot of assignment and homework. I usually slept at 0100. So,
usually rather than depending on my alarm, oh yeah I also bought alarm clock
and it working at first *laugh, I’ll asked my sister to wake me up for Subuh
prayer. Then after Subuh prayer, I either will read Al-Ma’thurat or do some house
cores before classes.
3. Take a bath
3. Take a bath
I think this is the popular tips because I have
seen this many times until my friend said; if I felt sleepy every time in the
class then I should take bath? Then if I have five classes that day I should
taking bath for five times? I wanna to laugh at this. It not necessary to take
bath every time before each of your classes, just make sure that before starting
your first class, you have taken bath okay. This will help refresh your body.
4.Breakfast!
If you have morning class just like me,
please eat your breakfast before or during the class. This will give you energy
because we will use our brains a lot but don’t overeat okay cause it will make
you feel sleepy. Just eat with necessary amount.
5.Be prepare for your class.
Usually, I’ll prepare for my class 30 minutes
earlier such as switch on the laptop, check any notification from my lecturers,
reading my notes, doing the homework or prepare to write some notes when the
class start. You may see this step unnecessary but trust me, this will help
your learning mood to boost. It just like you telling your brain that you want
to focus on class today by taking this action. Hope this help you!
During the class;
1.
Jot some notes
If you feel sleepy during the online class, do something that will wake
you up. For me, I’ll just jot some notes, I even have do the star jump
*hahahahaha. It wakes me up. You can just drink some water or walk for few
steps to gain your conscious again.
2.
Take the role
During ODL I have seen the lecturer really curious about the presence of
their students. Sometimes they will pause teaching and ask, ‘students, are you
with me now? Funny but I love how dedicate the lecturers doing their job to
give the knowledge to the students. So what is the reasons for you to be a lazy
person? May Allah bless all our lecturers, In Shaa Allah. By just responding
the word ‘Yes, madam’ that will help to show your presence. If you have any
uncertainty on the subject, just asked your lecturer, they won’t harm you and
don’t ever feel shy when seeking the knowledge.
But here some funny thing that I want to share from my classmates. During
my corporate law class, we have a Q&A session which need to ask the
lecturer. This one person, I really amazed with him, he such a brave guy, just
asked without any hesitation whenever he doesn’t understand on the topic. So
one day, he doesn’t know what to asked the lecturer, so he asked anyone in our
class to do so. Then this reply hits me, my classmate said; I don’t know what
to asked because I don’t really understand well the whole subjects and I don’t
know which part that I don’t understand.
After classes;
Work on the homework
Usually before the class ended, the
lecturers will give you present, its homework. If you get the homework related
on the topic that you learn on that day, just do it on the spot. This will
enhance your understanding besides avoiding you from procrastination. When
learning at home, it quite challenging because besides studying, you also need
to do some house cores. Double responsibilities as students and children.
Manage your time well okay.
This is some steps that I have done during my
ODL session and right now I’m on the final examination week. If you have any
interesting tips how to deal with ODL, please do share it with me at the
comment section okay. I’ll love to know from you too. Please do take care of
yourself and fighting! See you in the next post that I don’t know when. *byebye
